Do you remember when was the last time you cried because of a book?
I do.
It was yesterday. And I was reading "What I Loved" by Siri Hustvedt (Madame Paul Auster).
It is a highly intelligent book. And very readable. My English is not that good and I was able to read it without any difficulties. Intelligent but without pretention. And that is really difficult.
It is a very citadin book. And I'm not a city girl at all. But it has so many different layers, there's so much to talk about after reading: modern art, New York's pathetic art scene, boulemie, anorexia, manipulation, love, sex, friendship...
But for me the most beautiful part of this book is the fact that she describes an ordinary life of an ordinary man. Leo made me weep. Not once, not twice but three times.
I'm not ready to forget this book.
In fact, I'm ready to read the Dutch version now. To be sure I understood every single word of it.
Thank you Siri. Thank you very much.

Ik heb dat boek ook gelezen en het heeft me sterk aangegrepen. Ik hou van de manier waarop de schrijfster het ontastbare in woorden giet. Zeer mooi. Liefs Lily
